The History of Mizuno Running Shoes

The Olympics helped greatly in making sports popular all over the world, including the island of Japan. In 1906, modern sports events were just starting to begin real acceptance in Japan. Knowing all athletes needed the best running shoes possible, the Mizuno brothers set up shop. In 1912, Japan participated in the Olympic Games for the first time, and Mizuno shoes were primed to take off.

The Olympics have always been good to sports manufacturers. At least to sports manufacturers that have a good product. And the average Mizuno running shoes review suggested that Mizuno had a very good product indeed. In fact, in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, athletes using Mizuno products won 72 medals. These medals included 24 gold, 22 silver and 26 bronze.

Mizuno has always been a forerunner of technological advancements. In 1997 they introduced their patented Mizuno Wave technology. The Wave technology uses a wave plate, resulting in the lightest technologically advanced performance sports shoes. Then, in 1999 the Mizuno Wave Rider running shoe won the coveted Editors’ Choice award from Runner’s World magazine.

The Wave Rider isn’t the only running shoe to win a respected award. The Mizuno Wave Creation won Runner’s World awards in 2002, 2004 and 2006. One of the most popular and beloved of the Mizuno line, this shoe uses the newer Infinity Wave technology, which provides superior cushioning, transition and durability.

Mizuno shoes have won many awards. Each one makes use of new and improved materials and technologies. For example, the Mizuno Wave Inspire is the ultimate in responsive performance. It is lightweight, with a breathable fit, and the very first winner of the ‘Best Debut’ award by Runner’s World.

Mizuno has long supported women athletes. In fact, many of the Mizuno sports ambassadors are women. And the Mizuno women’s running shoes make use of all of their best technologies, including BioLock, a revolutionary heel-fit system which enhances performance by eliminating heel slippage and providing a greater amount of stability as a result.
