Swimming
Summertime in Atlanta is very hot, and locals have figured out that the best way to beat the heat is to go swimming at the Chastain Park Pool. The pool is only open during the summer, but it is one of Chastain’s most popular amenities. Free public swimming is available from 10am to 12:30pm. Swimming after 12:30pm comes with a small fee ranging from $1 for children 5 years and under to $4 for adults. After 5pm, the pool is closed to the public, so plan accordingly!
Grilling & Picnics
Chastain Park has a wide selection of picnic shelters available with no need for advanced reservations. Grab the family and your favorite foods and head on down to the park to enjoy a picnic. If you enjoy grilling, you can amp up the fun by using the park’s master grill.
Horse Park
The not-for-profit Chastain Horse Park offers riding lessons, pony birthday parties, and therapeutic programs for children and adults. Especially popular during the summertime, the Chastain Horse Park is a fun excursion for your whole family to enjoy. Schedule a riding lesson in advance, or book the kids for a summertime day camp experience.
Classic Chastain Concerts
For over 40 years, Chastain Park has hosted summer concert series at its amphitheatre. These “Classic Chastain” concerts are one of the most popular ways to enjoy Chastain Park during the summertime. Most Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays have a concert scheduled, and the acts are always top notch. The world-class Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is a frequent guest during the summertime, which is their “off” season. If you are planning to attend one of the Classic Chastain Concerts, be sure to buy tickets in advance as shows do sell out.
Live Nation Concert Series
The Chastain Park Amphitheatre is also host to the Live Nation Concert Series, which really heats up during the summer. The Live Nation Concert Series is known for bringing the very hottest artists to Atlanta for its popular shows. If you are hoping to attend a Live Nation event, purchase your tickets well in advance. Extremely popular acts have been known to sell out within hours of tickets becoming available.
